Concept Explanation

Unitary Method

Unitary Method:

The method in which first we find the value of one unit and then the value of required numbers of units is known as Unitary Method.

Illustration: Suppose the cost of 6 cans is Rs.210. Find the cost of 4 cans?

Solution: Using the unitary method,

we first find the cast of 1 can.

The ;cost; of; 6 ;cans = 210 ;Rs.

The; cost ;of ;1 ;can =frac{210}{6};Rs

The; cost ;of ;4 ;can =frac{210}{6}times4;Rs

                                    =frac{70}{2}times4;Rs

                                    =70times2;Rs

                                   =140;Rs

It is Rs. small frac{210}{6} or Rs. 35. From this, we find the price of 4 cans as Rs. 35*4 or 140.
